Fed: RSL should decide if descendants march: Beazley
Opposition Leader KIM BEAZLEY says .. descendants of war veterans should be allowed
to wear their relatives' war medals on Anzac Day.
But he's told the Macquarie Radio Network .. the decision on whether they march should
be left to the RSL.
New South Wales RSL president DON ROWE has warned .. the Anzac Day march could die
out as more World War II diggers approach their 90s .. unless new marchers are admitted.
But some veterans' groups .. including the Rats of Tobruk Association .. say it'll
ruin the meaning of the day to have children and non-veterans marching.
Mr BEAZLEY says relatives should be able to wear the war medals on Anzac Day as long
as they follow the proper protocol .. and pin them on the right hand side of their chest.
Veterans wear their medals on the left.
