FED: Big fine for illegal trawling on reef minister

SYDNEY, Jan 13 AAP - The maximum fine for illegal prawn trawling in the World
Heritage-listed Great Barrier Reef Marine Park would be lifted from $10,000 to $1 million,
federal Environment Minister Robert Hill announced today.

Admitting not enough had been done to catch illegal fishers, Senator Hill said he would
instruct the park's authority to look at prosecuting up to 50 identified illegal trawlers.
