NSW: Rugby fans rampage injures police

EDS- repeating with keyword

A policeman is hospitalised after rampaging rugby league fans attacked police at Parramatta
Stadium, hurtling missiles including beer cans and tools.

The violence erupted after Paramatta fought back to draw 20-all with local western
Sydney rival the Bulldogs, with police pointing the finger at Bulldogs' supporters for
starting the melee.

Parramatta duty officer Inspector KING says one police officer was hit in the face
with a full coke can of coke.

Another, he says, was injured when he was hit in his back with a set of pliers.

The Bulldogs' home matches at Sydney Showground this year have been marred by fan violence
after supporters repeatedly trashed train carriages and fights broke out at games.

The National Rugby League threatened to shut-down the hill area at the Bulldogs' home
ground unless there's an end to the trouble.

Parramatta also experienced problems with crowd violence last season and addressed
the matter by using video messages from players pleading with fans to control their emotions.
